How will my body change?
Girls and guys both change, and some of the changes are similar while many are different. Both guys and girls will experience a growth spurt, and often times experience more acne (pimples).
Girls will begin developing breasts and hips, and hair will begin to grow in their pubic area and under their arms. During puberty, girls need to begin shaving their legs and underarms, and will most likely need to use deodorant because body odor will be stronger than before. Internal changes are happening to the reproductive organs as well, and girls will begin menstruating. It takes a while for this change to happen, so it’s normal for girls to experience an irregular period (once every couple months instead of every month).
Guys’ voices change and drop, and they get more muscular. They will also grow hair under their arms and on their genitals – and generally more all over their body. During puberty guys may need to think about shaving their faces, and will also need to start using deodorant because body odor changes. It’s common for guys to begin having wet dreams at this time, too.
